Baked Chicken Parmesan Casserole

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Coat the base of an 8×8 baking dish evenly with marinara sauce.
  2. Layer half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the marinara sauce. Then evenly distribute the chopped basil over the cheese.
  3. Season the butterflied chicken breasts with salt and cayenne pepper. Place them evenly in the baking dish over the mozzarella and basil.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the panko breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and dried oregano. Evenly distribute this breadcrumb mixture over the chicken breasts in the baking dish.
  5. Bake the chicken for about 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until the topping is crispy and golden.
